Productivity + Procrastination ...

How is this stopping you from moving forward in life + your healing?

Let's talk.

How do you guys feel about how productive you are? Do you procrastinate?

I've always found this topic fascinating, as I believe it plays a part in my 1) Business / Practice growth, and 2) My health most notably, but also into my daily life. Paying bills, calling a friend or family member, running a errand, printing something off, and the list goes on, and on. I'm naturally driven, and productive, but I definitely can procrastinate things away.

When it comes to healing the body, I believe lack of drive, motivation, and purpose can effect our healing, as we know we should be doing things, but we don't. We procrastinate changing up certain foods we eat, supplements, booking an appointment with a practitioner... all things that will allow us to take the next step in laying our healing foundation, but something stops us -  either physically - always finding things to do, but the one we know we have to do OR energetically - blocks and old programming - "I've always been like this, I always wait until the last minute, this is how my mom is - so I'm like that".

What does this mean?

It means getting conscious as to where our time is going, where our thoughts or headed, and the beliefs + dialogue that we keep on repeating in our head.  Because anyone can make themselves do something, or be" busy", but is it effective, will it promote growth, will it help on the healing journey, and is it really benefiting us?

So many of us  fill our days with 'stuff' that doesn’t serve  us, or maybe it serves us, but it doesn't lead toward a bigger picture, and it's more just action, instead of mindful action, directed towards a specific purpose, goal or end outcome.  Now I know we all won't be driven to do each and every task with the same vigour, but the thought that keeps on coming to mind, is how we do something, is how we do everything.

As we approach a new season, and we leave the slower + more inward energy of the winter,  and move into a season which is naturally more productive, I want us to focus on channelling this energy, not just for the good, but to get us some place. Whether it's an health issue you've been letting go for far too long, and have normalized the symptoms, or you're wanting to shift careers, end a relationship that isn't serving you, or stepping out and doing your own thing in business. This is the season to call forth this energy, and to move the resistance, or procrastination energy to the side, as we all know it's not serving us.

I often catch my self envying people who just seem to get e v e r y t h i n g done with such ease, or with zero procrastination (I.E the quote - You have the same 24 hours in a day as Beyonce), cheesy, yet true.

We're all given the same amount of time, and what we choose to do with it from sun up, to sun down is up to us.

I know we never truly know someones story, but we all know that some people are just insanely, and highly productive. Yes of course, they might procrastinate, but they get stuff done.

These shifts don't happen overnight, and all of a sudden we don't wake up not procrastinating - in body, mind, and goals, and being hyper productive.  Just like I tell all my clients, and something I learned throughout my healing journey with lymes, all the little steps, mindful actions lead to our desired outcomes and goals, whether it be healing our body, or publishing a book.

There are no quick fixes in life, if it's a quick fix, it's not sustainable.

Before we close,  just thought I would share some of my tips on how to increase productivity with actionable steps / As actions lead to results

Today we are consuming more content in a year than our great grandparents would have consumed in a lifetime — it’s no wonder we struggle to disconnect. And social media is a massive contributor to this. So limiting the time you spend flicking through your feeds will superpower your productivity and sanity. Set boundaries - one of mine is airplane mode at 7PM when I'm at home, and when I'm working putting it out of sight as well, as it's such a habit to go on it.

Going off of the above. When I'm working I either keep my phone on silent, in another room or on airplane mode, except if I'm expecting a important call. This is new to me! I no longer keep my phone near me, so I'm unable to get distracted with text messages or phone calls from family and friends. Not that they aren't welcome, they are with so much love. I just found I was getting too distracted with working, getting in the zone, and having my phone near me. It can be too much at times, and again we are so stimulated, that I've started to create these small boundaries, and it's been so helpful. I will get back to text messages in the evening or the next day, and the same with phone calls. When I'm 'off', but I've had to create work hours, because it's too easy to just let things flow into one, and not set boundaries, so I've had to be more strict with myself.

Too much lives up in our mind, and we can't expect ourselves to be productive if we feel scattered all the time. Write things out! Have a journal by or bed, or keep one with you. When thoughts arise right them down. Reminders. Appointments, and action steps you want + need to take to move yourself forward in health, and life. We can't take actions, if we don't know where we're going. Writing it out helps us organize, de-clutter, and make hard copies.

Do things that might seem overwhelming first thing, or else they will continue to get pushed back into the day, or weeks, or months away.

If we don't know where we are going, how are we supposed to get there? Without clarity it's easy to procrastinate, and it's hard to be productive. Finding clarity through guidance, support, and doing the work is the first step. We have to tune in, listen to our bodies when it comes to our health, and become clear on what are next steps can and will be, or else we find it hard to do anything at all, and we feel paralyzed by the unknown.

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing. – Walt Disney

1. What have you been putting off?

2. What do you so desire, yet no action is flowing from that?

3. Does it stem from fear?

4. Do you consider yourself a procrastinator, and therefore subconsciously give yourself permission to procrastinate? Even though consciously you want to change?

5. What are 3 things you can do today to help you move forward in life, health, mind, body, relationships, career, finances... ?
