IMG_1003 TEA.

Let me count the ways I love thee. I'm a major tea drinker. Although I love my Americanos, I only have one five days a week but tea, tea I have multiple times a day! I probably drink closer to 4-5 cups a day. Green tea, herbal tea, sleepy time tea, and everything in between. The healing properties and the herbs available simply cannot be beat.

With summer upon us, even though I still drink hot green tea, I love making herbal Iced Teas to keep in the fridge on those insanely hot days, where plain aqua just won't do.

I came up with this creation yesterday to nourish my skin cells, optimize my digestion, and balance my hormones! Even though pure water is magical, water with healing herbs is absolutely miraculous.

HIBISCUS FLOWER - This tea helps with relief from high blood pressure and high cholesterol, as well as digestive, immune system, and inflammatory problems. It helps to cure liver disease and reduces the risk of cancer, due to the vit C. It can also speed up the metabolism and help in healthy, gradual weight loss. Hibiscus tea is rich in vitamin C, minerals and various antioxidants, while also helping in the treatment of hypertension and anxiety. This flower and tea is largely overlooked, but has too many helps benefits to count. I use Traditional Medicinals Hibiscus Tea

ALOE VERA LEAF - Named the plant of immortality for a reason, Aloe is extremely healing when it comes to digestive distress, skin inflammation, and balancing hormones! It is rejuvenating, nourishing and replenishing.

FENNEL - Is a aromatic herb that grows that is one of the most soothing and healing herbs for your digestive track. It's the perfect tea to drink after lunch or dinner to help ease and soothe digestion.

LICORICE - Sweet, earthy and delicious. Another herb that offers healing properties in terms of your digestion, mood and anti-anxiety.

NETTLE - It's leaves are very rich in chlorophyl (what gives green vegetables it's color). It has long been used as a herb for removing unwanted wastes, which is why it's the perfect edition to the CLEANSE blend I used.

PEPPERMINT - Prized for it's flavor, healing properties and energizing effect. Both cooling and refreshing peppermint can be used for any and all ailments. It is one of the oldest herbs that have been cultivated to date and back in ancient times was used for 'complaints of the stomach' and still to this day offer relief in digestion, but also has very invigorating and healing when it comes to the body as a whole.

DANDELION - One mans trash, is another persons treasure. Almost everyone thinks of the dandelion has a weed, but this healing plant is one for the books. It's bitter leaves are one of the best liver cleansers around. Anything bitter is good for the liver, and because we are met with so many environmental toxins every single day, consuming dandelion in some form daily helps with the detoxification process.

*** All of the above herbs (minus the hibiscus) are found in PUKKA'S CLEANSE Blend ***

GOJI BERRIES - Goji berries (Lycium barbarum) are the most nutritionally dense fruit on Earth! Unique among fruits because they contain all essential amino acids, goji berries also have the highest concentration of protein of any fruit. This little guy is beyond powerful! They are also loaded with vitamin C, contain more carotenoids than any other food, have twenty-one trace minerals, and are high in fiber. Boasting 15 times the amount of iron found in spinach, as well as calcium, zinc, selenium and many other important trace minerals, there is no doubt that the humble goji berry is a nutritional powerhouse. This amazing little superfruit also contains natural anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal compounds. Their powerful antioxidant properties and polysaccharides help to boost the immune system. It’s no wonder then, that in traditional Chinese medicine they are renowned for increasing strength and longevity.

All I do is take 2 bags of the Hibiscus tea + 2 Bags of the Cleanse tea + 1/2 cup of goji berries and place it in a glass container. Let is steep for a few hours, or even better overnight! Voila, the most delicious and healing Iced Tea.
