INTERVIEW: SUPERMODEL VALENTINA ZELYAEVA
I am honored and pleased to introduce Supermodel and face of Ralph Lauren, Valentina Zelyaeva. Not only has she graced the covers of ELLE, VOGUE, MARIE CLAIRE, BAZAAR, RUSSH to name a few, but she has been THE face of the iconic and classic brand Ralph Lauren for over 10 years (!) After being blessed to meet her a couple of times when I lived in NYC, not only was I blown away by her beauty, but her inner heart and warmth. She simply radiates from the inside out.
With her BLOG she inspires and brings her knowledge and wisdom to thousands upon thousands each month. The glow that she possesses is undeniable and she literally doesn't look a day over 18! I know her love of juicing, vegetables, raw foods and her lifestyle play a huge part on this, and I agree whole heartedly. Raw foods are the key to longevity, boundless energy, beauty and SO much more. We share such similar passions with health, wellness and the environment that I knew I had to ask her to share some of her wisdom on LBL and I am so excited to share this with you! Thanks Val. What was the catalyst that turned you into a healthy foodie? When I started modeling I knew nothing about healthy eating. I though that diet is the only way to stay in shape. I was basically bouncing my weight up and down, my skin wasn’t great and I didn’t have energy. I was searching for something revolutionary and The day I discovered raw food, it blew my mind! I started to read a lot of books, watch YouTube videos and movies. I couldn’t believe the benefits of eating raw food, drinking green juices and smoothies. It made a total sense and I never “diet” again. Fruits and Vegetables , it is that simple!
What is your non-negotiable when it comes to your diet? I always buy organic
Modeling is like a sport – you have to be in top shape! How do you stay active, and maintain a healthy body? I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and do yoga every day. I also include some kind of cardio workout: running or jogging, or bicycle.
What is your biggest health tip? Drink water in between the meals, and vegetable juices first thing in the morning every single day.
What we’d be surprised to find in your refrigerator? Someone gave me for New Years a bottle of Crystal 2 years ago. It’s still there!
What are your healthy food staples and ones that you eat everyday? My food staples are cucumbers, celery, kale, apples, berries, lemons, raw honey, quinoa, bananas. I eat this food every day (in juices or smoothies or salads)
What are your go-to snacks when you are super busy? I LOVE ‘WildBar” Raw Cacao & Wild Blue-Green Algae

If you could prepare a meal for anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and what would you make? I would love to make my green smoothies for Marilyn Monroe
The best vacation you’ve ever taken? I went to island in Greece calls Santorini. Truly unforgettable the most romantic vacation with a very special person. We eat fresh seafood, Greek salad made with local freshest ingredients, drink organically grown home made wine, watch sunsets and swim in the clearest bluest sea!
Do you watch TV? If so what are your favorite shows: I like SMASH, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife
Ultimate healthy meal: Big bowl of mixed greens with herbs, lots of veggies, avocado, sprinkled with pumpkin seeds, sea salt, fresh lemon and lots of LOVE
