INTERVIEW: TOP MODEL + NATURAL BEAUTY RACHEL ALEXANDER
I had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful Rachel Alexander when I lived in NYC, through one of my besties, Anne-Marie Van Dijk, another International Top Model, who like Rachel possess an other-wordly quality and beauty about her. Upon meeting Rachel she is extremely striking, but what gets me, and what will always do so, is that her beauty truly radiates from the inside out. Having graced top magazines and international campaigns, her laid-back style, personality, zest for the deeper meaning of life and tomboy tendencies (a girl after my own heart!), has led her down a path of separating the ‘fashion world’ with the real world. It’s extremely easy for people to get sucked into the vortex that is FASHION, but with a heart of gold like herself, she has remained grounded, radiant and on a mission to allow her creative soul and spirit to impact her next journey, the people around her, and the world.
Thank you Rach for your beautiful words, spirit and gracious heart!
Hi Rachel, tell us a little bit about yourself! Where did you grow up, what inspires you, how did you get into modeling, and what do you love to do/your passions?
I grew up on the central coast of California in a small hippie town. I got into modeling at 13 years old and did a few things in Los Angeles. My first shoot was with Steven Miesel at the LA river. Growing up traveling and modeling Im inspired by photography, foreign cultures, art, and independent movies. My passions are photography and writing short stories. I have a few on my tumblr mymodeldiary.tumblr.com
What would you want someone to know about you straight off the bat?
Im a model but its not really what I identify myself with. Im shy and not really into fashion. Im a tomboy and I really just got lucky to be able to experience everything I have.
Would you consider yourself a healthy foodie or do you try to maintain a balance between healthy eating and indulging (80% healthy, 20% treats)?
I try to have a balance. But its hard and im honestly not always good at it. When im traveling and staying in hotels I give in more to my cravings.
