NUTRITION: WHY EATING ALKALINE IS SO IMPORTANT.
Simply put, when are Body's are acidic, disease proliferates.
An acidic body = a body extremely susceptible to any and ALL kinds of disease. When we speak about cancer or autoimmune conditions, we are speaking about HIGHLY acidic bodies and internal environments. When we have an alkaline body, these conditions cannot thrive and survive.
When your body is in an alkaline state, it becomes A WHOLE LOT MORE resistant to disease, inhibiting the growth of pathogenic organisms like bad bacteria, viruses, yeast, fungi, and especially cancer. Ultimately we ALL have cancer in our bodies(aka free radicals) it's what we choose to nourish our cells with, our thoughts, our environment and everything that comes in and out of our bodies that determine our defense. When our bodies are alkaline, the oxygen levels are raised in the tissues, blood and organs, allowing them to function more efficiently and effectively. Reducing acidity and maintaining an alkaline state also helps to encourage healthy cell turnover, energy production, regular toxin excretion, longevity, vitality and an overall GLOW to our skin, eyes and complete inner and outer radiance.
While there are many factors that impact the pH levels in the body, the easiest way to influence the acid-alkaline balance is through our D I E T. By eating alkaline-forming foods and minimizing the consumption of acid-forming ones, your body can more easily maintain an alkaline state. Alkaline-forming foods are plant-based, and are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They are typically easier to digest than acid-forming ones, improving immune function in the gut and helping to lower inflammation and mucus production!
Now I want to stress that we're NOT completely perfect. IF you are healing from a serious illness than I would suggest to eat close to 100% alkaline. When I was healing from Lymes Disease this is what I focused on! It's imperative to remain extremely alkaline, as diseased cells THRIVE in an acidic environment.
RIGHT NOW- I maintain a 90% alkaline state - with 10% acidity. I don't really fall into the 90% healthy, 10% not-healthy state of mind as I don't like to think like that. With the nature of my body, and the fact that FOOD is my medicine I focus on staying ALKALINE, but allowing 10% acidity which encompasses my love for raw chocolate (80% or greater and americano's, and some champagne here and there :) These aren't BAD, but just more acidic). I'm NOT perfect, but I do take this very seriously!!! I want to live to be 118 (FACT our bodies are meant to live to be 125, but with the current state of GMO crops, stress, our environments, negative thoughts, adrenal fatigues, malnourishment, unhealthy habits, sleeping less than 6 years, energy drinks & SUGAR) we are cutting our life span in HALF! (I think I will save this for another post!). I don't want to scare you, but I want you to become more m i n d f u l of what you surround yourself with, and what you are consuming.
Hopefully this list will give you some guidance and direction. This is not an extensive list of foods, but it will give you a good start! Copy and paste into a word doc & put it on your fridge for reference. When you write out your grocery list focus on the ALKALINE food list, and reduce your acidic forming ones. Start small, and go from there. ALSO when you have the option, choose ORGANIC!
