Pears are very nostalgic for me. They remind me of my Mama when we where younger. She would always, always, always cut us ripe pears, and back then when the skin was NOT in, she would peel them, and cut them for us, like only she could. This small little memory has stuck with me for over a decade, and will stay with me forever. Pears nourish not only my body, but my mind and soul. . . BUT we should ALL have good reason to include pears in our daily / weekly lives. They are BEYOND nourishing, and have been called the β€œgift of the gods”. They are a juicy, sweet, and easily digested fruit that are rich in vitamins and alkaline minerals such as vitamins A, C, E, folic acid, niacin, copper, and boron.

A few more reasons w h y you should be eating them regularly. Pears also contain several anti-cancer properties and are known to be especially good in helping to prevent esophageal cancer, breast cancer, stomach cancer, and colon cancer. They are extremely anti-inflammatory food making them perfect for those who suffer from autoimmune disorders such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Arthritis, Endometriosis, Lyme disease (hello!), Hashimoto’s (your body does not produce thyroid hormone), and Colitis to name a few.

Pears also help to decrease the risk of Heart Disease and Type 2 Diabetes, which are rising at VERY scary + alarming rates! Their low glycemic index make it a perfect food for those who have blood sugar issues, or are trying to lose weight.

They are also a good source of iodine which helps to keep the metabolism balanced and the thyroid functioning properly and they are high in pectin which is highly beneficial for digestion and bowel regularity! Iodine is critical for healthy hormones. Honestly they are a 'miracle' fruit that I enjoy on the daily.

Small note: Allow pears to fully ripen at room temperature before eating for maximum nutritional and health benefits.
